Teresa Staiger

Teresa Staiger is a political scientist and an expert in common-good-oriented artificial intelligence (AI). As a project manager at Cyber Valley, she is responsible for AI ethics and civil society, with the goal of bringing societal perspectives more strongly into AI research and public discourse.

Previously, she was a project manager in the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s “Digitalization and the Common Good” program (as part of the “reframe[Tech]” project). There, she shaped the  project’s strategy on the responsible development and use of generative AI. And in this context, she was responsible for projects on the data foundations of basic AI models, including the study Fragile Foundations: Hidden Risks of Generative AI and an accompanying knowledge page. In addition, she led the multistakeholder project Tech Exploration in der Wohlfahrt, a program aimed at developing AI applications oriented toward the common good. She also published the German newsletter Erlesenes on current developments at the intersection of AI and the common good.

Prior to her work at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, she served as a policy officer for the Forum Digitalisierung und Engagement project at the Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement.
